Care for serious infections other than HIV. We provide follow-up care if you have been started on intravenous (IV) antibiotics in the hospital. Long courses of IV antibiotics (2 to 8 weeks) are often used for treatment of serious bacterial infections of bones and joints, heart valves and abscesses deep within the body.
