Dr. Lagares-Garcia is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. He received his doctorate from the University of Barcelona, Spain and has done his post-graduate training at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center at Temple University. He completed a colorectal surgery fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Lagares-Garcia is one of the most experienced and elite robotic surgeons in the country, specializing in the treatment of colorectal cancer and pelvic reconstruction. He has performed more than 1,000 robotic procedures. His expertise helped lead Roper St. Francis Healthcare to become the first in the Southeast to offer robotic surgery. Dr. Lagares-Garcia also lead the expansion of the robotics program to other areas including general surgery, thoracic and gynecology.
