Dr. Scott Edwards, MD | Hand & Wrist | Phoenix, AZ | The CORE Institute

Dr. Scott Edwards is a board certified and a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand, wrist, and elbow surgery, with special qualifications in minimally invasive surgery and advanced reconstructive surgery. He is an internationally recognized authority in hand, wrist, and elbow surgery. He currently serves as Chief of Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Section at Banner University Medical Center where he trains resident and fellow orthopedic and plastic surgeons in the treatment of upper extremity problems. Prior to joining The CORE Institute, Dr. Edwards served as Chief of Hand and Elbow Surgery at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. While acting as Associate Professor and clerkship co-director, Dr. Edwards has educated hundreds of resident physicians and medical students. In addition to serving as the Director of Orthopaedic Research at Georgetown University guiding all research endeavors, Dr. Edwards served as an orthopedic clinical consultant to the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Edwards received his hand and upper extremity fellowship training from the Philadelphia Hand Center and Thomas Jefferson Medical College. He completed his residency and internship at University of Tennessee's Campbell Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Edwards earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. Contributing to our understanding of the medical conditions affecting the upper extremity, Dr. Edwards has published four medical textbooks, five textbook chapters, 23 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, and has presented over 100 lectures at regional, national and international medical conferences. He continues to be invited to speak internationally and train surgeons all over the world in advanced techniques. Dr. Edwards is a member of the Orthopedic Trauma Association (OTA), American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH), and Eastern Orthopedic Association (EOA).
