Scott McDermott, MD - Roper St. Francis Healthcare

Dr. Scott McDermott is part of the Roper St. Francis Physician Partners Orthopaedics team. Dr. McDermott earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. He completed his residency at Summa Health System and his fellowship at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics. When he was a kid, Dr. McDermott’s grandfather, who was a finish carpenter, gave him a toolbox with his name engraved on the side. Since then, he was hooked on fixing things that were broken. But more importantly, his grandfather told him, “just do what you love.” To this day, whether it’s fixing a broken bone or performing a complex hip or knee replacement, he’s doing what he learned from an early age – assessing the situation, finding a solution and repairing it with care. Dr. McDermott is passionate about his work and eager to face the challenges of each day. He treats patients with respect and dignity, understanding that everyone is different and has different beliefs and wishes. When he isn’t working, Dr. McDermott loves spending time outdoors with his wife, Mariah. They enjoy traveling, especially to places with great beaches.
